The RSX-style setups mount on top of the tunnel and they force you to butcher your center console, so your clean interior ends up looking like a hack job. Hybrid Racing solved that back in 2008 when they built the very first bolt-in K-swap shifter, and this Z3 is the latest evolution of that design after nearly fifteen years and thousands of shifters out in the field. The Z3 is built for the K20Z3 and K24-style transmissions out of cars like the 06-11 Civic Si and 04-08 TSX. Here's what makes it different. It bolts in from underneath the tunnel, not on top. That means you keep your factory center console and your interior keeps that clean OEM look. No cutting up your console. Just two small holes to drill and you're done. It's the shifter that lets your K swap look factory inside while shifting way better than factory.
Here's Why The Bolt-In Design Matters
Most K-swap shifters are RSX-style units that sit on top of the shift tunnel. The problem with that is they stick up into where your center console lives, so you've got to hack the console apart to clear the shifter. Now your nice swapped car's got a chopped-up interior and it looks like exactly what it is, a swap that didn't get finished clean. Hybrid Racing's Z3 mounts from under the tunnel instead. Everything sits down where it should, so your factory center console drops right back in and your interior looks stock. You're getting all the shifting benefits without sacrificing the look of your car. For a lot of people that's the whole reason to go this route. You did the swap to make the car better, not to make the inside look like a project that stalled out.

Dial In The Throw Exactly How You Want It
This is where the Z3 really shines. You can adjust the front/back throw to three settings, full stock throw, 75% of stock, or 50% of stock. You can do the same thing with the left/right throw, three settings from full stock down to 50%. So you're tuning how short and notchy you want the shift action to feel. Want it tight and quick for the track? Crank it down to 50%. Want something closer to stock for daily comfort? Leave it at 100%. On top of that the shift knob adjusts up to 3 inches vertically and the aluminum offset block rotates a full 360 degrees, so you can put the knob exactly where your hand wants it. Not many shifters let you fine tune the feel and the position this much. You're setting it up around how you drive instead of just living with whatever the shifter gives you.
Match The Right Cables To Your Transmission
This is the part you've got to get right with the Z3, because the cables depend on which transmission you're running. The Z3 accepts standard M10x1.5 shift knobs, which is the OEM Honda/Acura thread, so your knob threads right on. But the shifter cables aren't one-size-fits-all here. If you're running the 07-11 Civic Type R FD2 K20A trans you need the HYB-SCA-01-11 cables. If you're running a 03-07 Accord K24A4/A8 or an 04-08 TSX K24A2 trans you need the HYB-SCA-01-36 cables. Check Your Chassis and Transmission
This shifter fits the 1984-1991 Honda CRX, 1984-2000 Honda Civic, 1992-1997 Honda Del Sol, and 1990-2001 Acura Integra. One thing to know. If your car came with an automatic from the factory you'll need to cut off the factory auto shifter cable bracket that's welded inside the shift tunnel. Once that's gone the install's identical to a manual chassis. On the transmission side the Z3 works with the 06-11 Civic Si (USDM only), 06-11 Acura CSX (Base or Type S), 07-11 Civic Type R FD2, 03-07 Accord K24A4/A8, and 04-08 TSX K24A2. One important note, the Z3 does NOT fit the FN2 transmission or FN2 shifter cables. Verify your trans against the list before you order, and grab the matching cables where they're required.
